365 Day Personal Photography Project Continued

This is a continuation from my first blog of a personal photography project that acts kind of like a diary and spans over 365 days.

                                                                        DAY 72

On the way back from uni on Wednesday the 11th of January i walked past an old locked up pub near to Burnley central train station. The building has been shut down now for a lot of years and i remember going in that pub when i was younger, it was on our pub crawl route through town.

Image 72
My last image on my older blog was of a locked up gate and i really liked that photograph, so i though i would link this image to my last image as a continuation and to tie both pages together. On this image though i have used two photographs and blended them in Photoshop. One is of the padlock and the other is from the wall of the building, though i have made the wall image very opaque so that is hardly visible.  I like the idea of using multiple images from the same building or object and then blending them together into one image.

                                                                      DAY 73

This is another image i have taken based on the idea of trying to create a 3D image from multiple exposures of the same image taken at slightly different angles.

Image 73
I like the concept of this idea and i think that only through keep trying out various objects and ways of taking this kind of photograph montage will i get the final image i am striving for. I bought these egg cups for one pound in the charity shop and this has led me to anther idea. What about taking photographs of objects that only cost a pound ?.. I like this idea and might at a later date use this as another full project.

                                                                         DAY 74

As mentioned yesterday i am still trying to create a 3D image, so today i went out looking for something that might look good in 3D. I have been looking around town to take an image but then thought if i am going to do this its better to keep the image small.

Image 74
I used two images the same and then skewed one slightly. After this i then used a red filter on one of the images and then a green filter on the other image. The effect kind of works but it needs tweaking a lot more. I will look up on the internet and see if i can find out how this is supposed to be done. The overall effect here is not strong enough but it is certainly a good starting point.

I have found a free program to use called Free 3D Photo Maker and it not bad, very easy to use and you can even use it with a single image. So i ran this image back through that program and it seems to work better than my first attempt. I will post the image bellow so it can be used to compare the two.

Image 74b
I guess that there might be more of these images posted on here in the upcoming days.

                                                                      DAY 75

There wasn't much chance of me taking any photographs today so i have again had to dip into my spare folder. The spare folder is quiet full anyway so i need to make use of some more of these images at some point.

Image 75
I had taken this photograph a couple of weeks ago. It is of my best friends daughter and she was playing like kids do, while we were waiting in the chip shop. Kids get bored so easily and she was just making her own fun. I really like this image as she was just messing around with no care in the world, though her mum told her off as her hair was trailing on the floor.

                                                                          DAY 76

Today is Sunday and i was still staying over at my friends house. I go there every Saturday night and sleep over. Sometimes we play cards or computer games and sometimes we watch films or just chill. I still had the 3D idea in my head and so was trying to think of things that might look good.

Image 76

After taking numerous shots of back streets and the like i spotted this locked up yard. I took the image of the locks but then had the thought that, the padlock was becoming a recurring theme in my recent photographs. I wonder what Freud would have said about this?.

                                                                       DAY 77

It feels really strange being off uni this week. Reading week as its known is a time for catching up on work, essays and blogs. I only now have to catch up on the contextual studies blog and write a little bit more for my essay. I don't have tons to do but i need to keep on top of it and then it doesn't overwhelm me at the end.

Image 77
As i am busy sorting all of my uni things out i decided to dip into my magic folder and get another image out of there for today's picture. When i took this image i really liked the irony that it seemed to suggest. It would have looked great if there had been a nun sat on the bench, but i still like this image as it goes with the old saying that you could worship Jesus anywhere.

                                                                         DAY 78

Today i have been looking at bitmap images and at turning photographs into them. i have lots of photos that i could use for this but i thought it would be better if i tried to turn a computer game image into one just to see what it would look like.

Image 78

I liked that this image came out with lots of contrast and it has a great pixel look to it. I even tried it in the 3d program but that didn't work at all.

                                                                         DAY 79

I have been looking through some of my mothers boxes of junk today and came across this little box filled with tat trinkets. I took a couple of images one with the box open and one with it closed. The open image i will convert to 3D to see what that looks like and the closed box i will leave normal.

Image 79

It has a really decorative cover and i loved this box but i will put the contents of this box on the image below.

Image 79b
I love the fact that when opened its just filled with tat objects. I have run it through the 3D program to see what the depth and spacing looks like within the open box. I don't think it looks to bad at all in 3D but again the tests i am doing in 3D are for another project entirely.

                                                                       DAY 80

Today we have had a huge clear out at my parents house and removed everything from the attic. This took such a long time but as we were sorting through all the boxes, we came across a huge magnifying glass. We decided to have a bit of fun with it and i went and got my camera.

Cheap Thrills 1

Cheap Thrills 2

Cheap Thrills 3

Cheap Thrills 4
Seriously though how much fun can you actually have with a bit of cheap glass that you find lying around. There is a lot to be said about the weather and not being able to go outside to take photos, instead there are plenty of objects at home that you can use in your photography. Wow four images today for the price of one.

                                                                         DAY 81

There is an old building in Burnley that looks like it is falling down. It is really not very safe and has areas of it around its base sectioned off. I would love to go inside this building as it used to be the old cinema/ Bingo hall.

Image 81
I bet the inside is still intact and at some point i will try to get inside and see what it is like. The stage is still meant to be there and the seating hopefully will be still like it was originally.

                                                                          DAY 82

I have been looking a lot at still life's connected to photography. In contextual studies we looked at a still life image by Daguerre and i really liked the image. i thought that i would try and recreate the old look of his images using old and new objects that i had at home.

Image 82
I was happy with the final image as it did look old, even though i have used some modern and some old objects together. I tried out various lighting and added noise and a sepia look to the image until i was happy that i had managed to conceive the look, that i had originally intended.

                                                                        DAY 83

I went out today to visit a friend of mine. During my visit at his place i noticed some steps leading down into the car park.

Image 83
I took this image because i like the play on textures along with the different shapes. There are lots of lines and sections in this image and i like the way its all broken into sections of shapes.

                                                                       DAY 84

As the weather improves i think it might be an idea to try and make this terms images more related to the places brief. I am going to be taking lots of landscape images and it makes sense to carry that on here. Also with the people brief starting up as well there may be more portrait images too. Today the the weather is not so great as i found out while trying to burn some paper on a little stove fire we have in our garden.

Image 84
The shredded paper that i was burning was blowing all over the place. I think i was burning the paper because i have given up smoking today and was going through lots of old paper work. Maybe this was symbolic of me giving up smoking the burning of old paper.

                                                                        DAY 85

I have been looking forward to going back to uni after last weeks reading week. With all the new modules starting it was going to be a change from what we have done before. Also with the first term finished i now have a better idea of what is expected and this makes image making process more enjoyable for me.

Image 85
Looking at Andre Kertesz's later work got me into thinking about windows and what we see everyday we take for granted. Do we actually look whats out side a window or do we just glance and look at what we think is out there and dismiss our everyday view. This could be a good starting point for another project and i have noted it in a note book for a possible personal project.

                                                                        DAY 86

We finely got a look at the peoples brief today that we will be starting from next week. This brief looks promising and interesting for many reasons. After doing a little research it is amazing at the different possibilities that this brief could entail.

Image 86
I met these two chatty guys on the train home from uni today. They noticed i had a camera on me and asked if i wanted to take their photographs, they were mad up for it. It is not often i have been asked like this and most people tend to shy away when they see a camera. These guys were fun and chatted all the way about lots of different things. So i would like to say thank you to them both for being fun and generous about not being camera shy.

                                                                         DAY 87

All day today i have been thinking of this 3D project that i might start soon. I have done enough bits and bobs now with personal experiments to maybe finalize an idea and start running with it. As i was thinking about it today i pondered on the idea of doing a 3D Picasso type image of a man (if that makes sense). I could possibly, if done correct use this in the people brief, but i think i would need to consult Katy, Richard or Andy to see what they think about it. The image would consist of lots of images of the person all individually made into 3D and then added together to skew perspective and create one big image.

Picasso idea.
So the general idea consists of lots of parts of an image made into one image. I have made a very very rough image below to see if it could work and i think it could definitely work.

Rough Outline For The Idea.
This would be great if it works out. Now i just need to find the right person to photograph.

                                                                         DAY 88

As a continuation on yesterdays theme i took a lot of images of my friend Hayley today to see if i could form the kind of image that i am trying to work out. Its easy to see it inside my head but trying to get the right look isn't as easy. I will keep on it though until i am completely happy with the final photograph.

Image 88
Well its certainly better than yesterdays rough attempt but there is still a long way to go until i get there. I have put the 3D version below as after all the final image for this will be to try and create a three dimensional look.

Image 88b

                                                                      DAY 89

Today has just been one of those days where i haven't had the camera out at all. I ended up babysitting for my two god children all day, as their parents went on an another friends stag do. So what i am going to do is to take a couple of images tomorrow instead. I am going to consciously try to take a couple of landscape images tomorrow as i feel i haven't taken any or a while.

                                                                    DAY 90

So i took about 30 photographs today while out hunting landscape type shots. I will put an image in here first to make up for yesterday and then an image for today. It is easier not to get to eaten up about the odd day when you miss taking an image, after all in real life things have a strange way of sometimes not working out how you would expect.

For Yesterday, Image 89
I liked the way the path waved up into the image for this first photograph and i have tried shots like this before but the path just seemed right here.

Image 90
I love coming to this little bridge in the middle of the woods. The bridge is really long and by the time you get around half way across, it starts really moving up and down. From this angle it doesn't look that long but it is and from the other side it doesn't look like it leads to anywhere at all. It a great little location but there is not really a lot of other photographic opportunities around this spot. Not when its so muddy at least, as you cant get off the beaten path so much, without slipping.

                                                                            DAY 91

While at uni today, a couple of us were trying on a pair of glasses that one of the other students had bought at dinner time. Julia i thought had a very good look with them on.

Image 91
I really like this photograph due to its composition. It was taken really quick but i liked the lighting from the harsh bright window light, and i like the shadows that the light is casting across different parts of the image.

Images of The Late Jackie O
After realizing who Julia reminded me of, I then had to go and look up Jackie O and try and get a comparison image.

                                                                             DAY 92

After talking to Katie at uni the 3D face idea is now beginning to take off and i can see which direction i would like to take it into now. I have done a couple of drawings and mini mock ups and the idea is definatly coming on now.

Image 92
I don't think i will show much more of this in this section any more, as its developing into a full project on its own now. You can kind of see where its going now but it just needs refining and making very big to work.

                                                                        DAY 93

Today in the people session with Andy we were looking at different types of portraits and what they are and what they can mean. As i don't feel confident in this area, which is to say the actual people type of photography, I thought i would have a little practice this afternoon.

Image 93

I really enjoyed myself today doing this little mini project. I took quite a few images, so i will pop a couple more on after this commentary, some of them will be edited and some wont.

Test 4

                                                                         DAY 94

I went for a drive today with my dad. He wanted to show me around the tops of a place near where we live. He knows lots of information on local history and old places around the Pendle area. Its a place he calls the "hidden valley", I don't know if that's its real name but that's what he calls it.

Image 94

While driving around i spotted this gate just led against the wall and i liked the look of it. It just looks old and i liked the fact that its now just useless as a gate.

                                                                           DAY 95

I cannot believe that i am nearly up to 100 days into this project. Time goes quick, it must be because i am getting older. I have had a really busy day today and again didn't have much time to take any images so i will dip into that magic folder again. I took loads the other day and its happen a good job, i have now topped up my spare folder with more images.

Image 95
I loved this tree when i spotted it. Normally you don't see the branches of big trees like this so low down. Also its in the kind of crossroads of a stone brick wall. I also like the way you can see the farmhouse in the top left of the photo.

                                                                     DAY 96

Today i have been trying out just a couple of simple still life images. I did not want then to be complicated but rather just singular or a small amount of items in a group.

Image 96
I love this old bottle of Cherry Brandy. It used to belong to my Grandma but when she died it was given to my family. I wouldn't like to drink what is inside this bottle as its corked and is most likely to be horrible vinegar by now.

                                                                        DAY 97

It snowed a lot yesterday but it all seems to be melting today. The weather stated it was going to get really bad , but so far its not to bad at all, just very wet.

Image 97

At the moment i seem to be playing around a lot with the saturation of different images. I really like the muted tones that you get from overlaying two images. One of the images is in black and white and the other is in colour, it gives off a really nice look to it, almost like its bleached the colour out of the image.

                                                                         DAY 98

When you look at the still life work by Jody Ake i like how he singles out his subject. He normally just photographs one object and i really liked this idea. I have been trying out a couple of objects today but framing then in an old box.

Image 98
I liked the idea of just focusing on one object but rather than isolating it i have instead framed it inside a box. I love the textures inside the box and the way it frames my object. It creates a space around the object without too much isolation.

                                                                        DAY 99

Well that,s very nearly the big 100, I might have to try something special for tomorrow. Today though on the way to uni it was really frosty and i like how it made the train station look. I took a couple of photographs on the way into uni.

Image 99a

Image 99b
I have put both images here as they work as a set of two especially if they go side by side. Also today i took some more portrait shots but there going in my people folder so you wont see them in this page.

                                                                      DAY 100

I had an excellent day at uni today and felt like i had really learned a lot about studio photography and lighting set ups. Studio work has never been a real strong point for me but today i came away feeling a lot more possitive about this area of photography.

Image 100
We were set a brief in which to try and create a high contrast portrait. The Sitter should feel comfortable while being photographed and be happy with the resulting image. I wanted to create a really low key kind of image and learned a lot about lighting techniques and and camera settings. The day before we learned about metering light and how to use light meters correctly and this came in very handy for today's session.

                                                                           DAY 101

Well today its just been a case of messing around with weird still life's. I have loads of odd trinkets and funny looking objects at home and i got them out of their box and had a play around with some bits.

Image 101
This is part of a very old pot Victorian doll, its a strange object when viewed on it own that is with no hair, arms or legs. It has a creepy look to it and today i wanted to use it but on its own it just didn't look right. The background is a drawing my dad made way back when he was a child so i used that as a backdrop. It is of a war scene and i thought the dismembered doll went along with the theme.

                                                                       DAY 102

The images today are from a very very early rough draft of something that i am working on. There badly lit and composed but that was not why i made the images. They were made just to see if an idea could work that i have been thinking about.

Image 102a

Image 102b

Image 102c

As you can see by the images there not perfect but then i had no intention of them being. The point of then is just to get a quick idea on whether the image i had in my head would work and i think that it defiantly will. This again is going to be something i will work on. There's nothing like making it hard for myself with all these little projects going on.

                                                                          DAY 103

I had gone into town today and while walking past a car i had to do a double take. There was something in the back of the car that caught my attention so i took a photograph of it.

Image 103

As you can imagine it is not every day there is a blow up doll in the back of a car with a seat belt on. Well at least it was following car safety rules and was belted up in the back, but thinking about it the driver now has an extra air bag.

                                                                       DAY 104

It seems that the days are going really quick now on this project. Today i didn't have a clue what to photograph as inspiration was a little dry to say the least. I wandered around my garden and saw this ornament my mother has in one of her pots.

Image 104

So we've gone from blow up dolls in cars top fairy's at the bottom of the garden. I dread to think of what tomorrow will bring. I am going to uni in the afternoon so i might do something there. On a more serious note though i actually like this weird garden ornament as i find it a little bit creepy and strange, it needs its feet washing.

                                                                        DAY 105

I went into uni today to discuss the entering of a competition that the class had been talking about. On leaving though, I didn't really have a lot of time to spend taking some images based on my ideas. I wrote a lot of them down and started to go through in my head lots of varring ways that these ideas could be worked through. Tomorrow i will make a start looking at some of them and will show a variety of things that i am looking at.

                                                                       DAY 106

In today's set of images there are going to be a couple of different ideas from the day before that i have now had the time to photograph. I am also sad to find out that the D&AD competition that i was going to enter has an age limit of 26. That doesn't matter though as i am still going to follow the project up and use it for my people brief, possibly the fine art part of it. The first image is just for yesterdays image though, as i was looking at light and how it looked passing through different surfaces. I merged two images together to get this image as i wanted it to look kind of cubist if that makes sense.

Image 105

The next image is from today and is connected to the idea that i have been working on as part of my fine art portrait. In fact there are two images one is based on the original idea and the other came from an idea that sprung up while taking these shots and takers this project off in another direction if i choose to go down that route.

Image 106a

Image 106b

As the concept is a lot different to the first idea then this could become a secondary project altogether or just kept to go along with the first idea.

                                                                          DAY 107

Today i had a visit off my sister and nephew. They had come round to visit my mother, and i remembered i had an old Star Wars bag in the attic that my nephew might like. We had been cleaning out the attic a couple of weeks ago and found this bag then. I have to say that i used to be a Star Wars nut when i was younger and i had this bought for me. It not something i would have bought myself hence why its been stuck up in the attic.

Image 107

As you can see hes a bit of a cheeky monkey and pulls some right old faces. I just thought that this image suited him as it shows off his cheeky side.

                                                                              DAY 108

Today i thought that i would try out something a little more rustic but still using different images layered on top of each other. I like the idea at the moment of objects or things put inside each other that shouldn't necessarily go together.

Image 108

This is actually 3 images blended together. One is of a suitcase the other a book and the last is of a box on the floor. I really like the tone of the image and might do a couple more like this and make them a set.

                                                                         DAY 109

I have continued yesterdays theme and carried on trying out different themes with a couple of the same objects. Its interesting how many different images you can make only using a limited amount of items. I like the way different textures work together and the play of shapes and words together. Below is a couple of the images i took.

Image 109a

Image 109b

Image 109c

Image 109d

Image 109e

I like these images as a set and it wouldn't have felt right to split them up so i put them all on together.

                                                                             DAY 110

Today was such an easy photograph to take because i was struggling with my essay for uni. My head was full of rubbish and i could not get it down on paper.

Image 110

It was like my head was filled with Gremlins and i could not concentrate at all when getting my essay together. This image seemed very apt and i found the whole process very stressful.

                                                                     DAY 111

Today my essay was finally finished, it was such a relief. I cant say i enjoyed the whole essay writing process but i did learn a couple of things along the way.

Image 111

As soon as i had finished tonight i threw all my study notes on the floor and then took multiple images of them.  I then turned them into a multiple layered image which i suppose is my way of making all the notes i took fit into one frame (or frame of mind if you will). Bring on the dissertation, that's what i say and by that i am just joking of course.

                                                                         DAY 112

It seems like we have been off uni for ages or maybe that's just the stop/start nature of this term. It has been a weird term so far that,s for sure, With people leaving, holidays and teacher's being off sick. I am sure it will all be back to normal soon and at least we have the Liverpool trip to look forward to tomorrow.

Image 112

So i decided to try out some very simple still life shots today, using more old tat i found at home. The great thing about using stuff you already have is it doesn't cost you anything to take a photograph. I really like items that are quite kitsch, especially religious items. Today i just used a couple of old picture frames that i had lying around and this image is the one that i liked the best.

                                                                     DAY 113

The uni trip to Liverpool was very good today and we all had a really great day out. I managed to take quite a lot of photographs today so i will post a couple of them on here. I think most people managed to take nice images but the problem with us all going together is that you might find some repartition within all of our work.

Image 113a

Image 113b

image 113c

Out of all the images i took i think that these three were possibly my favorite. It was a great day out and i will definitely be going back there at some point.

                                                                   DAY 114

I have cheated here as i am writing this the day after i should have done and therefore taken two images the day after(If that makes sense). I have been trying to make a still life image out of three images all separately lit and then merged into one image. I saw this technique in a book and have been meaning to try it out for a while.

Image 114.

I made my space around this image pitch black and then took three images with the same settings but then used a torch to highlight different areas on each of the three images. Then i uploaded the images to Photoshop and used the Silver Efex Pro filter on each image separately. When i was happy with each image i then converted back to Photoshop and merged the images into a single photo.

                                                                          DAY 115

Again i have been trying to develop my on going project and took a couple of images to try and progress this or just to experiment and seeing what i came up with. I have been trying out some desaturated images as normally i don't like working in colour.

Image 115a

Image 115b

These are just more variations on the theme that i am working on and basically there just test shots. It is good to try out different ideas visually as you get a better understanding whether ideas work or not when you actually see them. The first image and the second image are fine and have helped me visually to form and play with ideas.

                                                                       DAY 116

I wanted to try something retro looking today but with a difference. At first i did not have a clue at all and then the idea came to me. I started taking photographs of textures and patterns as i thought that i could use them somehow in my final image. I really wanted a kind of 60's or 70's feel to the image but did not have anything clear in mind while actually taking the photographs.

Image 116.

I really liked the out come of today,s experiment that i constructed using four photographs. It reminds me of the old TV program The Outer Limits. The final image is slightly surreal but it works with what i was trying to set out and achieve, I am pleased with this image.

                                                                         DAY 117

I took a couple of images in reflections today while out for a walk. The image i like the best is just of a house reflected in a car bonnet, that had splashes of rain on them.

Image 117

For some reason this just reminds me of a shot from the Wizard Of Oz. I think its at the beginning when the cyclone picks up the house. I like the image and i had to turn it upside down so that it looks like it does now. Originally it was the other side up as it was a reflection but it looks far more normal this way up.

                                                                          DAY 118

I set out with the idea of making a triptych today as i had been reading an article in a photography magazine. I tried to follow the plan in the magazine but wasn't very happy with how mine looked. I felt that i did not want three isolated images together and came up with something different altogether.

Image 118

So it was first of all out with the three images and in with four instead. I wanted to give an aged look to the final image but also make it look modern in its composition. I played around with blending the layers so you could still see some of the background, but without getting rid of the four square frames that each of the small images were contained in.

                                                                        DAY 119

Today there will be a set of images that i took while walking home from the train station. I was walking up to my sisters house and i have to go through part of a trail leading to a park in Burnley. There is a little subway there and i wanted to photograph it, so that was the main reason for going this way home.

Image 119a

Image 119b

Image 119c

Image 119d

Image 119e

Image 119f

Image 119g

I find it interesting just how much there is to photograph in my surrounding area that i live in. There is a very diverse range of subject matter and its just a case of looking at your environment. On another note i have been trying to think a little bit more about composition while taking photographs by looking at angles and how objects fit in with their surroundings.

                                                                         DAY 120

We had a great day out with uni today on a field trip to Bowland and its surrounding areas. We had lots of little stop offs to little beauty spots throughout the trip and the weather was really foggy which is a condition i have never photographed in. On choosing an image for today i found it hard because i took so many and didn't want to go down yesterdays route and do another compilation.

Image 120

I really enjoyed taking this photograph as there was a build up to the taking of it. We saw a farmer and she was asking us to move to a certain side of the bridge due to them rounding up the sheep. We could see the sheep coming quite fast and all had little time to find a spot and get out our equipment. I went and stood away from everyone else down by the river that the bridge crosses as i thought that this would make a good shooting spot, I have taken about 8 images of the sheep and liked this one the best.

                                                                         DAY 121

When i woke up today i knew instantly that i wanted to create another montage, layered type of image. I had a specific idea in my head, as last night i re watched the film Un Chien Andalou and while not wanting to create something grotesque it started me thinking about the eye sequence. Visually the film is stunning an is ripe for idea grabbing as films seem to be something of a muse for me creatively

Image 121
.
I think the idea for this image came to me while i was thinking about time and how we cannot see it. What we can see however is the effect of time and i suppose that this image can tie in with a similar style in which image 116  was created. The lines represent how our face age with time but i didn't want to show these as winkles but rather diagonals and the numbers just represent the passing of time.

                                                                          DAY 122

I noticed today that some flowers had come up in the garden, so it must be a sign that spring is nearly here. To be honest i don't normally take much notice of the garden but these just caught my eye. I was going to just take a normal photograph but wondered what they would look like in an info red conversion.

Image 122
Converting them to infra red makes them stand out from the background almost like there placed on another layer. This is just a straight conversion and i love the way that all greens go white and blue and red colours turn dark. Playing around with this type of conversion really alters the way things look.

                                                                           DAY 123

I have seen this image in my head for a couple of weeks now and remembered to take my camera with me today to actually capture this shot. It is of nothing special but i thought about something that Richard had shown us in class a couple of weeks ago.  He was showing us old images of shop fronts taken in America in the 30's and 40's. When we look at them now we can see how times have changed and they become interesting to look at because they have become a piece of history.

Image 123

I pass this street often and love this huge old building in the center of Burnley where i live. There is on old sewing shop on the street and i know it wont be around for ever, so i decided to take a photograph to preserve the image. I especially like the way that the drainpipes frame the shop and go all the way up the building and the amount of road that i have shown to allow me to cut down on showing too much of the sky above.

                                                                          DAY 124

I have been throwing ideas around in my head for my other fine art portrait shots that i need to start on soon. I thought today that i would just try something that i though off and see if visually it could work out for this project.

Image 124

It could kind of work and is definitely a strong possibility for pursuing further down the line, though time is ticking and it wont be long before i need to get cracking on the actual project itself.

                                                                         DAY 125

A bit of an uneventful day today to be honest, not much has caught my eye to photograph and to be truthful i feel a little bit uninspired. I think that we can all have days like that were we feel a little bit like the air has been took from us. I still put on my thinking cap and took a couple of different images but could not decide on which one to use today.

Image 125
I decided to go down the ethnic route in the end today, so i ended up with this image. The texture on the image is made out of sand and the image is of a wooden statue reflected in glass. I just thought that wood, sand and glass would go well together.

                                                                             DAY 126

After uni today i went and got my old bike out and decided to go for a ride and take some photographs as the sun setting was really nice. The light was fantastic and the colours looked really over saturated, but i only had my little Olympus camera with me.

Image 126

Out of all the images i took tonight this one was probably my favorite. I waited until the man walking up the path got to the fork in the path. He is framed by the trees and i love the sun rays coming into the photograph from the top left of the image. I have never really tried shooting images into the light before (Contre Jour) and was pleased how this one turned out. I also took a couple of other images but would have felt a lot better about them if i had taken my regular Nikon camera with me. As a note to self though its a place i can always come back to at a later date.

                                                                             DAY 127

On the way to uni today i took a photograph of a pub near the train station in Burnley. I have taken this image before but its the first time that i have seen it without cars parked in front of it.

Image 127

Another reason for taking this photograph is the fact that they have just pulled the adjacent building down which was also a pub. I thought that both of them were listed buildings but obviously not, hence the taking of this image just in case this building is also down for demolishing.

                                                                           DAY 128

I have been trying to use up some film today on my Olympus OM film camera. They should be ready for uni next week to develop in the dark room and i can not wait to see whats on them. As i have been using the film camera i haven't taken anything on digital at all today. I am going to use an image from my spares folder that i took a couple of weeks back, as it was taken for this project but never used.

Image 128

Well its in colour for starters and that's not something i have done for far to long but this image just would not work the same in mono. I really liked the lighting given off the street lamps and shop windows here and the way the light reflects in the wet surface of the car park.

                                                                           DAY 129

I had a great day out today taking images for our research/People brief. If i am honest i was a little bit nervous before i went as it was in a strange environment and i had to get permission from the sports centre before i could take any photographs. I also had to fill out forms and then go round people individually to see if they minded my taking photos. On the form it also stated that if any one objected i had to stop taking the photographs at once, so i was a little nervous.

Image 129

I was quite pleased with my photograph's though i struggled a bit at first due to the lighting.  It was mixed lighting but also not very good in some areas so i had to up my ISO higher than i would have liked to to try and get enough light in to freeze movement while hand holding the camera. I could not use a tripod for health and safety reasons and also i had to move around a lot. The image above is not necessarily the best photograph in this set but i will be posting all of them on another page in this blog at a later date.

                                                                           DAY 130

Today i found an old screen print that i made a long long time ago while on an old art course. The image is of the actress Edith Massy, which was for a while one of John Waters muses. I used to really admire her when i was younger as i still do now. I took a photograph of the print and then messed around with it a little in Photoshop.

Image 130

I love the grainy quality of this image and think that she would look great on the front of a t-shirt. She has a really big cult following and its made me want to go back and watch all the early films that she starred in.

                                                                        DAY 131

Today's set of images have come across a little bit macabre even though that is not the effect that i wanted to achieve. I was playing around some more with the face in boxes idea and wondered what they would look like if i buried some of them in the garden. The idea of the space within the box and the ground above was playing on my mind so i thought i would like to see what it would look like.

Image 131a

Image 131b

Image 131c

You can kind of see the idea that i was trying to achieve and if i did go down this route i would make it with many more images from a full face. I think that it would look quite good and again this has led me onto more ideas to work on further down the line. By visually trying out different things is a great way to create ideas and see how they could work( A little bit like a photographic sketch book).

                                                                     DAY 132

A couple of weeks ago i found some old health and safety slides that belonged to my dad, that i found to be very intriguing. I might put them all together and turn them into a short film or find another way in using them as a photography project. As i was thinking what i could use them for i started to play around with them a little.

Image 132a

Image 132b

The top image is the original and the bottom image is one that i have played around with a little. This could make for an interesting project and i especially like the idea of making a short film from the slides.

                                                                         DAY 133

Today whilst walking home from the train station i thought that i would get my camera out and take some pictures. I walked home along the main road up to my house and passed the old college building and noticed that from a certain angle it looked quite interesting.

Image 133

I thought that it made an interesting backdrop to the bushes and then with the tree in front of it, kind of obscuring half the image it made the building look a little bit more mysterious. The tree being in focus and the building not adds to the image and was how i envisioned this photograph.

                                                                        DAY 134

We had a class evaluation today of some of our images and it was a very positive session. Some people gave feed back whilst others did not which was a little bit disappointing but i think people will start to become more vocal as the term comes to an end. I took away something that Richard said today and it was that we should have loads of little ongoing projects that will help us to build up a body of work. Some famous photographers take years to build up bodies of work for some single projects.

Image 134

So today's photograph might seem a little bit random to start with but if i start collecting photographs of say gloves or random objects i find on the way home , then as a set (when there is enough images) they might start to make more sense. Today's photograph was taken to highlight what was said in today's session.

                                                                          DAY 135

After uni today i went to Manchester to meet up with an old friend that was up from London for a couple of hours. It was great to catch up with her as its been around 15 years since we last met up with each other. I took a photograph of her and just a couple in Manchester as i was pushed for time and had to run to get trains etc.

Image 135a

I took this photograph whilst in the pub and the light was very bad but the image came out not to bad in the end.

Image 135b

Image 135c

These last two image i took whilst running between stations in Manchester. I like both images i just wish that i had more time to photograph more places and things that i saw that day, though i will go back soon, so there will be other opportunities to get my images.

                                                                         DAY 136

Today i have been playing around with layered images again and trying to construct images from the ground up, using four different layers and different opacity settings to construct an image.

Image 136

The final image wasn't quite what i had in mind when i started, but then again i was going into this image with an open ended view. I do not mind the final image but it is not as strong as i would have liked it to have been.

                                                                        DAY 137

On a similar theme to yesterday instead of looking at layering image i have instead looked at different ways of presenting multiple images of a similar subject. Duel images and triple images are what i was looking into and looked up different kinds of triptych throughout art history as a base. I wanted the images to look modern in how they were presented and looked at different ways into how to achieve this.

Image 137a

Image 137b

I like the idea of presenting images together and might actually go down this route for one of our modules this term. It would work well with our places brief and is definitely something that i will try out.

                                                                      DAY 138

I watched a film this week called 2046 and it has inspired me to look at portrait photography in a completely different light. Just watching the film i found very inspiring and took away a huge amount of ideas. It has also made me look at framing your subject within your image in a different way and has pushed me to try out different compositions.

Image 138

With this image i was not looking to get all of the persons face into the shot, i was playing around with the idea of how much face you needed and how much you could leave out. I instead was going for the shape of her hair and how much of that i could use within the frame. The form of the hair was like a letter s and i wanted that to be a prominent feature in the image instead of the actual face and see if it could still work as a portrait.

                                                                        DAY 139

Today is landscape day and i have been out trying to take a couple of urban landscape photographs from around near were i live.

Image 139

I wanted to take more landscape images for our places brief so i have taken a couple for that. Rather than just sticking to the day trips out with uni i think it is better to wander around were you live and try and capture a feel for our everyday surroundings. It makes you look at things in your area in a different light and when you start looking closer you find things that you wouldn't normally spot. I have taken a couple more images but will put them onto the places page as they will be more relevant for that page than here.

                                                                         DAY 140

This has been a funny week as most of the other people in uni were in New York and i have taken lots of photographs for various reasons but left it until the end of the week to put them into here. I might have mixed some of them round but in the end they were all for this page anyway, well most of them were. I will go back to Monday and start sifting through them all and then try to put them into there right slots.

Image 140

This is a photograph that normally i would not take as it is of an animal and its not something that i feel comfortable doing. I took this photograph though as we had found this cat the week before and needed some pictures of it to circulate round the area that it was found. Actually it was a really nice cat, but just a shame it did not get on with our own cat, so we had to give it away in the end to a good home.

                                                                    DAY 141

I found a pair of gloves today just sat on a bin on the way to uni and of course i had to take a photograph of them as now it seems that i am collecting images like this.

Image 141a
We can see how again in isolation this is just a pair of gloves on a bin in the town center. Though if we go back to image 134 and what i had mentioned before then we now can see when we start putting the images together a project forming from the images.

Image 141b

That makes it four images now in my random glove set and counting, these were all found and taken within a week of each other. I find it funny how people just seem to discard their gloves.

                                                                      DAY 142

I had a very productive day at uni today, it was great and i learned a lot about lighting. Our stand in teacher was excellent in studio knowledge and i managed to pick up some great tips from him.

Image 142

I had a very specific image today that i wanted to shoot but wasn't quiet sure on how to light it. I was trying to play around again with composition and just how much space within an image you can use to to emphasize emotion. I had seen a film called 2046 by Wong Kar-Wai and the imagery within the film is just amazing. It gave me lots of great ideas for different photography shots for our people brief. I don't think i will actually use this shot but will instead re-take it and put some kind of wallpaper on the wall as it is to plain at the moment.

                                                                        DAY 143

I went out around my local area today trying to find any landscape type things to take some photographs of.

Image 143a

Image 143b

I ended up liking both of these photographs i took whilst wandering around some back streets near where i live. The mattress was just lying on some grass round the back of some terraced houses and i found it a little odd. It would have been better taken with a wide angled lens but i do not have one yet so i might see if its still there in a couple of weeks when i get my new lens.

                                                                          DAY 144

This next image i took during the day in Burnley town center. The building is bright orange and really stands out like a sore thumb in the town center.

Image 144a

I like the way that the tree obscured the building and is in the center of the image. It would have looked far better if the cars were not there and possibly if the image was in colour. I will put the colour version bellow to compare it though at the moment i am really liking black and white images rather than colour. This could change at some point but for now it my thing.

Image 144b

                                                                           DAY 145

I took my little camera out on a night out but did not end up taking any photographs of the night out and the people that i was with. Instead on the way home i took a photograph of the old Burnley college building as its lit up at night.

Image 145
There was quite a bit of noise in the final image so i embraced this and added more whilst giving the photograph an older look to it with a black and white conversion and then i altered the saturation. It gives the image a really old and haunting feel to it and shows of the buildings age.

                                                                           DAY 146

This next image for me if my favorite photograph that i have taken this week. I went for a walk with my sister over to Accrington, which is the next town away from Burnley. The view was really nice but the weather had a really bad haze effect and i did not end up getting the photograph that i wanted.

Image 146

There was a couple sat just taking in the view and i managed to take a couple of photographs of them whilst they were sat there.  In the end i really liked this image but imagine that it would look amazing if i went back there early in the morning or on a cloudier day.  This image will go into my people page as an environmental portrait i think rather than as a landscape image.

                                                                          DAY 147

I went for a walk after uni today along the canal in Burnley. There is a really nice old building which is quite photogenic. I often think about taking pictures of this building at night or during the day and have taken lots of images of it in the past.

Image 147a
This image that i have taken does not do this building justice at all and i found my composition to be really out in this shot. I was trying out a wide angled lens that i borrowed from uni. Bellow is a photo that i took a long time ago and shows off the building a little bit better.

Image 147b
I think that this place needs me to take a better image to really do it justice and over the holidays i am going to try and capture that shot.

                                                                   DAY 148

The sun is out but to be honest its making taking photographs of what i want really hard work. It is casting really horrid shadows where i don't want them to be and its making distance objects and buildings really hazy and not clear enough. This can be used sometime to a good advantage as in image 146 but just not for what i would like to take today.

Image 148
This image just shows just how bad the shadows can be, but here i wanted to show how they fell on this little passage between two houses near to my house.

                                                                           DAY 149

Again i have been wandering around my local area trying to find different views of things near to where i live. I love this one back street and have taken an image that i see all the time but for some reason i really like it.

Image 149a
Its the church at the end of the back street that i like, it just seems an odd place for a church to be seen. I also revisited the place where i took image 143b as i did like the oddness of the mattress but felt the image did not look right.

Image 149b

Image 149c

I think that these two images are better than the first one that i took and are on here again to show that sometimes going back to a place can prove to be fruitful to your photography. I see a lot of places and then note them down to come back to if i find something of interest, a little bit of scouting out locations can be good for practice.

                                                                            DAY 150

With this weather its been nice to go out walking around a lot and today i took my sisters dog out for a walk. I was throwing sticks into the river for it and it kept bringing them back to me and and shaking its fur of water all over the place. I wanted to try and capture this and took a couple of images of it doing this.

Image 150a

Image 150b

It was fun trying to capture this and after getting completely soaked i managed to capture a couple of images that i liked.

                                                                     DAY 151

Today was not really a lazy day as such but i did not take my camera out, so i have had to dip into my spare folder again. I do not get to fazed by this as i normally take lots of images every day and have a folder full to the brim for this project.

Image 151
When i took this photograph i was interested in shape and composition. I like the way the lines and the round bowl play with the form of the overall image. It has taken a boring object and made it more interesting by placing it within the confines of the lines of the floor.

                                                                     DAY 152

There is an old pub in the center of Burnley that used to be the old holding police cells for the town a lot of years ago. Again going of what Richard said it is good to take photographs of pubs and old buildings as they may not be around forever.

Image 152
I like the fact that it still has the old bill board on the side of the building advertising the old coach company. I don't know if this company still exists but it might be interesting to find out a little more about this company.

                                                                      DAY 153

I have been out again looking at rural landscapes today to try and get some more photographs for our places brief. I have started to see lots of houses with really derelict land all around them a lot in my area or near to were i live.

Image 153 a

Image 153 b

Image 153 c

This kind of thing has got me interested in my local area and how people have to live within run down areas like this. For the people living in these houses their view must be really awful and a right eye sore every time they look out of their windows.

                                                                       DAY 154

Today i have been playing around with depth of field and desaturated colours again. I decided that i don't use my prime 50mm lens as much as i should or use its capabilities to its full effect.

Image 154
I also don't often use a square format in my photography and have tried to use this along with depth of field to try and do something different to my normal photography. The object also cost one pound from a charity shop and i seem to collect pound objects for photography as you never know when it might come in handy later on. I think i might re do this image on a product table at uni just to see what it comes out like.

                                                                       DAY 155

So back to some landscape images then for today. In fact i took a lot of photographs and will put them on here but i am using them for my landscape brief.

Image 155a
These first image is of a more traditional landscape and were not too bad, but i was really after something more rural to go with the images i took in Padiham a couple of days ago.

Image 155 b

Image 155 c

Image 155 d

Image 155 e
Then i came across these views of houses near to Todmorden which is about a 6 mile drive away from where i live. Then after we got into Todmorden i found just what i was looking for just off the main road. First of all though we went into a park and i took a couple of images from the park.

Image 155 f

Image 155 g

Image 155 h

It is these last three images that interest me the most out of all of today's images

Image 155 i

Image 155 j

Image 155 k
Well overall i took a lot of photographs today and i am pleased with the results. I think that today's bunch make up for yesterdays pound object photograph.

                                                                       DAY 156

Today my sister wanted me to take some photographs of members of her family. She just wanted them to look natural and not lit or anything, so we went outside and i ended up taking a couple of picture for her.

Image 156

I loved this photograph of my little nephew as he looks a right little scamp in this image. It brings out his cheeky side and the rough texture on the wall behind him emphasizes this. I could have used a shallow depth of field to blur this out but on this image i wanted it all in focus so that i could up the clarity and make it more edgy.

                                                                     DAY 157

I have just been out for a walk round to my friend's house and have just come across another set of terraced houses with a lot of dead space and rubble in front of them. This kind of image is quickly turning into a full grown project now.

Image 157
I like the composition of this image as it is half sky and half foreground and the houses run through the middle of the image. This is not usually the kind of composition that would normally work but the mound adds to the composition as it breaks up the middle line.

                                                                     DAY 158

It has been a strange week this week as i have been looking after my friends house while he has been on holiday down south somewhere. I took along my little camera as i did not have a lot of room in my bag for the Nikon D7000. I managed to take a few images and have not put them on all week as i have had to wait until i got home to be able to upload them onto my blog.

Image 158
This was a photograph i took a little while back of an old camp fire near to my house, it is in the middle of the woods near to where i live and the layout of the stones reminded me of my childhood when we used to make fires and play around as a child. This image was not took this week as i had my hands full house sitting my friends kitten as it was the first day i was there.

                                                                     DAY 159

Early one morning i went into the garden whilst staying at my friends house and noticed this snail on the top of my mates tool shed roof.

Image 159
On its own just the first image of the snail looked very boring, so i decided to take a couple of images of it so that i could make a little montage of it. As a set of four it looks better and i liked the sense of scale that all four images manage to portray.

                                                                        DAY 160

As i have said before further down on this page, I am not a huge fan of animal portraits but as i am at my friends house all this week, this next image is the reason that i am staying there.

Image 160
This little fella is called Otto and he has managed to keep me awake for the five days that i was at my friends house. I have problems with animal images but this just seemed very very apt to take this photograph as he is the reason for my sleepless nights over the last few days.

                                                                              DAY 161

This next image on first glance has a slightly strange feel to it but that wasn't what i intended when i took the photograph. What i saw when i first saw this on a bench outside my friends house was an old doll that seemed to look like it was in a surfing position and i thought it looked funny.

Image 161 a
My friends children had been playing with it and have just left it there when they went away and i just thought it was a funny image. I showed it to them when they came back and they thought it looked a little sinister, but i did not get that at all from this shot. Its just something i spotted that the children had left laying around. In fact thy had lots of toys laying around in the garden.

Image 161 b

This next image just shows how many bits of toys there were laying around.

                                                                          DAY 162

I thought that i better get my creative head on today as i still needed to think about our people project as it has to be handed in soon. The idea with someones face made of of squares is my ongoing fine art people idea and i have just been looking into that and seeing if there was another way i could progress this project.

Image 162 a

This was made with two different face photographs and goes along with the idea of boxes and faces but this is too literal. It is meant to be based on an image that is 2d but could represent 3 dimensions and i have put the image again through a 3d program to see what it would look like.

Image 162 b
So this looks far better in 3d and was how i wanted it too look but the problem is how do i achieve this without having to put the image through a special program. Also how could this look be achieved without the viewer having to wear glasses to view it.

                                                                      DAY 163

Today i went to the garden center in Manchester with my parents and took my camera along just in case anything interesting revealed itself. We had lunch there and i had not really spotted anything until we were leaving.

Image 163 a
Image 163 b
These garden stones were on sale and i thought that they were just really bizarre looking. It is not something that i would put in my garden but i liked the quirkiness of them all the same. I also thought that they looked far better in colour rather than converting them into a black and white images.

                                                                       DAY 164

I have been in all day today doing various things at home but could not find anything at first glance to take a photograph of. Then whilst making dinner for my parents i noticed this rather old fashioned 50's looking wall ornament that they had hung on the kitchen wall.

Image 164
I cropped the image tight and then converted it into mono. I then added some slight texture and a subtle vignette to help keeping with the vintage look of the actual object.

                                                                     DAY 165

I spotted today's photograph while walking home from the town center. I had noticed this advert before and thought that it might make an interesting image but i have never really had my camera on me whilst walking past this previously.

Image 165

I think that the advert when you notice it is in a really obscure place as its on the back of a road and not many people would actually walk past this and see it. Then again you can see it from inside the local Sainsburys store and maybe that is the point. It is possibly there so that when you visit the cafe you can see how good you look eating their food, or how happy this would make you. so slightly subliminal then.

                                                                        DAY 166

Today i walked through Burnley town center and saw something that again i have taken a photograph of but a long time ago. It is the shop front for the local Burton's store and i always liked how the models in the advert look like they are looking down at the flower beds in front of them.

Image 166 a
The older image that i took last year i will put below this one for a comparison shot.

Image 166 b

                                                                   DAY 167

I went to a party at a friends house om Saturday night and while walking home the next day i noticed these shadows from the trees as it was a really sunny day.

Image 167 a

Image 167 b

I only had my little camera with me so the quality of these images is not the best, but you can see what i was looking at all the same. The first image is what i noticed first and then on the second image i zoomed in a little so that i could catch the shadow of the tree. These have not come out how i would have liked but they show what i saw. Maybe i should go back with my Nikon at a later date and try to re capture this shot.

                                                                       DAY 168

Well today's set of images are a little different in that i walked into the local church on the way home from uni today. I wanted to try and capture something i would not normally see and so i decided on a trip to this graveyard at the back of the church.

Image 168 g

Image 168 h

Image 168 i
I think that these images speak for themselves and i liked how they came out. Some people find graveyards strange but i find calm in them and enjoyed taking today's photographs as it is somewhere that i do not normally go.

                                                                          DAY 169

I have been looking at different ways of presenting my images again today especially my landscape images. Sometimes i think that they might look better if we break the image apart and try to resemble the image but in two or three parts.

Image 169

I like how this has turned out and might prompt me to do a couple more like this or in a similar vein over the next couple of days or so.

                                                                          DAY 170

Again working on the same idea as yesterday i have taken two images and presented them in a similar fashion and as the images are different but of the same object it seems to work well.

Image 170
I like the overall effect that presenting images in this fashion gives, but could i use this kind of presentation when i hand in my work for the people and places modules i will have to try and get some feedback from Katy and Richard and see if it is possible.

                                                                       DAY 171

I think that the split screen thing is starting to take off with me now. I love the idea and i am working on multiple projects that could benefit from this way of working.

Image 171
This image just came to me when i was playing around with the idea of looking at views from inside a door looking out, to looking from outside but looking into the door. It might be an idea for a project or a one of but the initial idea fascinated me. Also i think as a project this idea could go far if i pursued it along its full course, so something to come back to then at a later date.

                                                                           DAY 172

Today's image just came to me due to the fact that my nephew had come to our house on a visit and he was sticking stickers all over the place. He stuck them everywhere and when he left i later went out of the house and to the shop.

Image 172
On the floor just outside my front door i noticed this sticker that must have dropped off him as he left. I think i just liked the way that the sticker had dropped onto the floor and nearly landed perfectly in the little triangle shaped brick on the drive.

                                                                            DAY 173

I have been location spotting today as i have an idea that i might be able to use for my people brief. I was looking for a doorway that i could use to frame somebody.

Image 173
This i think could be perfect if i decide to use it as it has a little ledge that i could use to sit the model on if i want them sat down. It would make a great frame for my subject depending on how big they were.

                                                                        DAY 174

I went back today to Padiham so that i could take some more images for my places brief. The spot that i found was somewhere that i have been to a couple of times now and this place just fascinates me. I ended up taking around 40 images but i will put around 3 in here as i will also put all of them into the places page.

Image 174 a

Image 174 b

Image 174 c

These images look different to the others i took in this series that's why i have put these ones in here.

                                                                         DAY 175

I took the following images whilst walking home again, but this time i went a different way and decided to walk under a bridge that goes from Manchester road to the town center. I have always looked at this spot as a possible photography site and decided to check it out today.

Image 175 a

Image 175 b

Image 175 c

Image 175 d

I think it was the abstract nature of the place that made me want to take images like this and then i gave them a slight sepia tone in Photoshop.

                                                                      DAY 176

With this next image it was just the pattern that drew me to take the photograph. Also i spotted a yellow piece of tape, at the bottom of one of the basses of these trolleys and i just liked the randomness of that.

Image 176

It is quite and abstract image really, in fact so was yesterdays if i think about it. I haven't really had a lot of time to go out searching for photographs so far this week and today's image was really just a random thing that i saw (the yellow tape) and photographed.

                                                                           DAY 177

At uni today me and my mate Cameron were discussing our cameras as he has now bought the same on that i own ( a Nikon D7000). He was asking me how to alter one of the settings and i managed to take a photograph of him whilst he was messing around with it.

Image 177

I always seem to snap Cameron but this is the first time i managed to catch him out with his camera in his hands.

                                                                      DAY 178

I set off this morning with the idea of going into Manchester to try and get some Candid street style photos with the possibility of using one for my people brief. I have all my images really for that brief but i thought i might just grab a different image if i looked hard enough there.

Image 178 a

Image 178 b

Image 178 c

In hindsight i might have been wise to check the weather before i went as it absolutely poured down all day. You really did not want to get out your camera in the rain but i managed to take a couple of images that i liked all the same. I also bought a light meter and a new lens so it wasn't a total washout.

                                                                       DAY 179

I was walking home today and spotted a lady sat at the bus stop through an old glass doorway. I thought that it might make a decent image because of the art decor style door and the cars going past would blur.

Image 179

I like the image here because there is something almost ghostly about it in the way it looks. It reminds me of an old photograph but that is possibly down to the style of the door making the image look older.

                                                                             DAY 180

I really needed to try and get my last image for the people brief today as i have to start printing the final images out next week at some point. The last image i needed was for my corporate portrait. One of my friends has his own company buying, selling and renovating houses in the Manchester area so i asked him to don his suite and let me take some images of him.

Image 180 a
Image 180 b

Image 180 c

The actual Corporate portrait image i will save for my people page, but i also took these images on the same day. They are of him, his daughter and his fiance and i really liked how these images turned out.

                                                                       DAY 181

Today i have been walking round looking for things to photograph and i found an old abandoned building but i could not enter it. I managed to sneak round the back though and there was a courtyard that had a nice old fire escape in the yard.

Image 181
I think that the building is due to be pulled down but i would love to get inside it to take photographs at some point. Its possibly not to safe hence the reason that its going to get pulled down so i will have to see if i can ever get in there.

                                                                        DAY 182

On my way home from uni i tried to go back to the same building as yesterday but still could not find a way inside. I took a couple more images today and have put two of them together for today's photograph.

Image 182
And again this repeated idea of placing images together has happened. I think this idea works if the images are connected or of a similar tone as today's photographs are.

                                                                            DAY 183

I have made another duel image today and i think that i have gone as far as i can with this concept for now. I have enjoyed the pairing of images but i feel it is time to move on. Sometime we can get stuck in a rut if we go down the same route all the time without looking at other avenues.

Image 183
I was waiting for a bus then noticed all these jelly beans on the floor and the plastic fork. Then i noticed the ciggerette ends last and just thought that the ciggerette ends and jelly beans were at total odds with each other. This is because one is a sweet that children eat and the other is a drug that adults use. The image is not very strong but if we look deeper then there could be a message here somewhere.
